Joey stared wistfully up at the sky as rain pelted his face. The blond was waiting for Kabia to show up but three hours had already passed and he had still not showed up. Though Joey wanted to leave he stayed just for the slimmest of chances that Kabia would remember their date and show up. It was a small chance but it was all Joey had so he kept staring at the sky and waiting in the rain.
Kabia sat at his desk in Kabia Corporation typing on his laptop. Rain strummed against as the glass as he worked. Kabia yawned and glanced at the clock. The neon numbers flashed 9: 43 pm.
Suddenly Kabia remembered he was supposed to meet Joey at the park three hours ago. Kabia looked at the clock and tried to decide whether Joey would still be there or not. Kabia decided on the later and started typing again but as more time passed he began to have second thoughts. Finally Kabia slammed his computer closed and stormed off to the limo, calling his driver on the way.
On the fifteen minute drive Kabia festered about whether or not Joey was still there. The stupid blonde was sure to catch a cold in this weather and Kabia really didn't want his blonde to get sick. Kabia sighed and stared out of the rain covered window, hoping that Joey had enough common sense to go home.
Joey sat down on a bench and sighed. He knew that Kabia wasn't coming but he couldn't bring himself to leave. Kabia had promised that he would come and if he stood up this date…well, Joey wouldn't know what to do then.
The blond missed his little rich boy. Sometimes he just wanted to scream at the brunette until he had nothing left to say, other times Joey just wanted to curl up in Kabia's arms and forgive him for everything he had done, at times like these Joey just wanted to kill himself just so he could stop feeling so helpless and alone.
Kabia scanned the park as the limo pulled to a stop. He couldn't see much through the rain covered window so the brunette opened the door and jumped out of the limo.
A small lonely figure sat on a bench, his shoulders hunched against the rain. Kabia felt his heart wrench in an odd way and swallowed hard as he made his way towards the figure.
"Joey?" Kabia called out. The figure turned around and stood up. A dripping wet blond stood there, staring at Kabia with hurt eyes.
"Kabia!" Joey yelled, trying to decide whether to the brunette or hug him. Kabia walked as fast as he could to the blond, feeling horrible about making Joey wait for so long. Joey opened his mouth to yell at him then he collapsed.
"Joey!" Kabia exclaimed as he ran the last few feet to the blond figure. "Joey!" he yelled again as he gently picked up Joey.
Kabia's finger tips brushed Joey's forehead, confirming that the blonde was burning with fever. Kabia raced back to the limo clutching Joey in his arms. The driver opened the door for the brunette.
"To the hospital." Kabia demanded as the driver slid into his seat who just nodded and began to drive.
Kabia laid Joey down on the seats, the blonds head in his lap. Joey's cheeks were slightly flushed and his breathing was light and quick. Kabia stared sadly at his sick little mutt. Joey's eyes fluttered opened and he stared at Kabia with unfocused eyes.
"Where am I?" Joey asked breathlessly.
"We're going to the hospital right now. You're going to be okay." Kabia reassured him.
"No hospital…" Joey whispered as he closed his eyes, shaking his head softly.
"Are you sure?" Kabia asked worriedly. Joey nodded slightly and Kabia sighed.
"Go back to the corporation." Kabia told the driver not taking his eyes off of Joey. The rest of the ride back to Kabia Corporation was silent. Kabia continued to run his long fingers through the sleeping blonde's hair.
As the car pulled to a stop Kabia opened the door and walked into the building with Joey cradled to his chest. Kabia walked up to his room and laid Joey on the bed then sat down in the chair next to the bed.
Kabia felt horrible about leaving Joey out there in the rain. Joey was one of the few things he actually cared about. There were only three things in this world that Kabia loved and that was Mokuba, his company, and Joey. Kabia could still remember when he and Joey would go out all the time sometimes with Mokuba sometimes without. It was about a year ago when that all changed...right after their trip to Horror Land.
About a week after that date Joey had to start working again because his father had gotten into a lot of debt. Joey started working as much hours as he could and him and Kabia started seeing each other less and less. Kabia had thrown himself into his work and little by little he began to ignore Mokuba too. A whole year had pasted and Kabia didn't even notice it until Joey had called him up asking if he wanted to go on a date. Of course Kabia had said yes but he had forgotten along with the next few dates that followed. Kabia had sent Joey a stuffed animal and chocolates on Valentine's Day but had forgotten their date, the same had happened on Christmas too.
Kabia began to feel very ashamed of himself as he stared at Joey. Unable to just sit their Kabia stood up and started pacing back and forth across the floor. After that Kabia alternated between sitting and pacing as he waited for the sleeping blond to wake.
"Seto?" Joey whispered softly, his voice weak. Kabia stopped in his pacing and ran over the bed.
"Joey!" Kabia exclaimed. "Are you okay? Do you want anything?"
"Can I have some water?" Joey asked, not acting like his usual self in his delusional state.
"Of course!" Kabia assured him as he raced the bathroom to fill up a cup of water.  Kabia had to help Joey sit up and held the glass as Joey drank. When he was done the brunette gently laid Joey back down and set the glass on the bed side table.
"I'm cold." Joey shivered. Kabia walked over the closet and pulled out the biggest blanket he could find and threw it over the shivering blond.
Joey gave Kabia a weak smile as the brunette sat down. Kabia smiled back briefly and leaned in to brush away a trail of water running down Joey's mouth. Kabia's fingers traced the line of water and came at a rest on Joey's lips. Kabia leaned in slowly and placed his lips against Joey's. Joey kissed back softly.
"I'm so sorry." Kabia whispered as he pulled away a fraction of an inch, their lips nearly touching. Just then Kabia realized that tears had filled his eyes and were threatening to spill. "I am so sorry." He whispered again.
"If I hadn't been so obsessed in my work this would have never happened." Kabia continued. "I completely shut you out and it took you getting horribly sick for me to even notice." A single tear flowed down Kabia's cheek as he continued. "I know I have been a horrible boyfriend and protector and I'll understand if you never forgive me…" more tears flowed down Kabia's cheeks as he began talking even faster. "But if you can find it in your heart to give just one more chance I promise I'll try harder. I won't be so obsessed with work, I'll spend more time with you, please, just give me one more chance?"
Tears fell onto Joey's face as he stared at the crying brunette. Kabia never cried, not when he had lost his brother, not when he had broken his arm, not even when Yugi and everyone had gone to America for a year but here he was crying his heart out to Joey, begging Joey.
"Please?" Kabia cried helplessly. Kabia knew that Joey had every right to tell him to go screw himself and if Joey did say that he would feel as though he deserved it but right now, as he tried to imagine seeing Joey with someone better than him, Kabia felt so empty and broken that it killed him.
"I know you deserve much better than me. I won't blame you at all if you hate me but I'm not going to let you leave without at least telling you that if you leave I won't be able to go on. You are the thing I care about most in the world. I love you Joey Wheeler and there is nothing in this world that can ever change that!" Kabia yelled, closing his eyes and looking away as the tears continued to streak down his face.
Joey stared at Kabia in shock, not quite sure how to react, not quite knowing how to tell Kabia that he loved him too, more than anything. So instead of saying anything Joey propped himself up on one elbow and pressed his lips against Kabia's. The kiss was soft but salty and full of sorrow from Kabia's tears.
"Does this mean you won't leave me?" Kabia asked slightly doubtful.
"Not for anyone in the world." Joey promised as he kissed Kabia again. Kabia smiled and kissed Joey back with all the love in his heart.
